Announcing Sir Dave Dobbyn’s 70th Birthday Party

One of the biggest legends in New Zealand music history today announces a one-off summer show at the Coroglen Tavern on Sunday 3 January. Sir Dave Dobbyn celebrates his 70th birthday on this same day, and invites summer revellers to celebrate with him. Fresh off performing at Rhythm & Vines, Sir Dave will be making his way back up the country to play the milestone birthday show.

Speaking about the show Sir Dave says: “For the good people of the Coromandel there’s nowhere I’d rather be on my 70th birthday.”

Helping him blow out the candles and joining the birthday party line-up on support is Christchurch-based indie rock singer-songwriter Mim Jensen alongside rising alt-rock singer-songwriter Sam Cullen & His Band, hailing from Invercargill.

2026 has been a year that may exhaust performers half his age, but not Sir Dave. This year alone, he’s sold out two nights at Hamilton’s BNZ Theatre, followed it with a perfect one-night-only Selected Songs show at The Civic, and will close it out with a festival slot at Rhythm & Vines – and he’s not slowing down, welcoming in 2027 with a birthday bash.
