You’ve probably been singing along with Hamish Waddell all year. He co-wrote and sang Bunchy’s Big Score’s runaway SRN hit Oscar Says, and when he’s not doing that, he’s behind the desk recording or mixing records with numerous Ōtepoti artists, from other SRN darlings like Out of Luck & Achtung! through to the chart topping Vagina Dry EP.

Now we get to enjoy Hamish’s own world of songs, perhaps in the most intimate form yet with a solo album due November 13th. “I made this album all by myself throughout 2025 and 2026. Much of the album was written and recorded in the early hours of the morning upon returning to my flat after working night shifts. As such I used a lot of electronic instruments and recorded quietly, even using my laptop microphone to record vocals and instruments” he says.

“Many of the songs are about the way relationships and life in general changes as you grow up. I have always wanted to make an album like this, but for the longest time I felt like it was impossible. Happily, I was wrong about that, and this album exists as proof that it is possible to make art, you just have to do it!”

Hamish today releases the first single from his upcoming solo album, I’m A Millionaire. Listen Here.
