Miriam Clancy Releases ‘Janis, You’re Evil’

Today Friday, 30 October, acclaimed New York-based artist Miriam Clancy drops powerful track Janis, You’re Evil, the second single from her anticipated new album Final Girl, and B-Side foil to her recently released banger Don’t You Know Who I Think I Am.
Janis, You’re Evil is intensely personal. It’s Miriam’s story: making sense of her life from a third-person perspective, the track is at once an exorcism and a microscope on the inherent power imbalance between sexes, victim shaming/blaming and the injustices that inevitably result.
The weighty source material showcases Miriam Clancy’s captivating songwriting mastery: Her assertive vocals float above acoustic guitar lines reminiscent of Elliott Smith, while electric guitar, keys and drums enter and crescendo, a pedestal for her voice to soar even stronger and higher, as she powerfully delivers, “We belong to the heavens, We belong to the light…Crucible, Janis, You’re Evil.”
Clancy says, “Societal change is dragging and we are frequently pressured to be presentable, quiet, unthreatening, polite, maternal although still hot (but not too hot), never aging and do NOT step out of the line and speak up for yourself or for others, lest you be labeled the problem – bound to a modern stake and lit up to hide another’s crimes.”
“I watched adults scramble to conceal information, manipulate and divert the course of justice with lies and threats both legal and financial – blaming and labelling me a problem child.
I grew up, I survived and untied myself from the ruins of my burnt stake and now I know that if you need a hero, be a hero… for myself and for other girls – but really, this is a human issue because when it affects one of us, it affects all of us.”
Janis, You’re Evil drops today on all streaming services.
