Single Review: Say Something

Auckland based four piece The RVMES (pronounced Rooms, a mix of rum and tunes incorporating a cheeky V where the U should be), have just released their latest single Say Something. The genre defying band which produces a “musical stir fry” of ever changing sound has delivered a reggae/jazz inspired track that captures the essence of a warm summer evening.

The RVMES are wonderfully adept at mixing up genres and producing a solid sound, Say Something is no exception delivering a relaxed laid back groove.

The song which tells the story of conversations with a new found love is a soothing, soulful tune which highlights the clear relaxed vocals of Edwin Judd. There is a simplicity in the arrangement which gives the listener a carefree vibe that transports you to a sun soaked beach, cocktail in hand.

Heavy on mellow guitar the track is accompanied by cool reggae sounding percussion incorporating a break of synth complementing the smooth tone.

This band’s latest track is a cruisey diversion from some of their more indie rock style numbers. Nonetheless it is a brilliant track which flows in an effortless manner combining chill rhythm and an easy going melody creating a tight sound and delivering the feel good factor in spades.

The RVMES are original with their ever changing sound delivering consistently fresh music.
