Single Review: Pyjamas 1

The new single release by Treenurse is here! Entitled Pyjamas, this is a snappy little indie/alt-rock number about giving life a full go; trying. It’s got a Beastie Boys surfy rock back beat, then some slowed-down intervals come in with some very wholesome, yet sorrowful lyrics about the mundane, troublesome experiences everyone faces day to day.

It’s a song that resonates with many of those feeling overworked, tired and are politely admitting to being a bit “over it”. The overall groove of this song is cheery and really gets stuck in your head. I really like the vocals of Lucy Campbell; they’re pretty raw, yet endearing and natural.

Treenurse reminds me of a more greeny, Kiwi version of Kate Nash; she’s got honest lyricism and despite not being pop, she’s definitely catchy. I can highly relate to the content of this track, and would love to be able to see her live one day!

About the author Gaby Ivanov-Giraldo

If I tried to explain all the reasons I do music, we’d be here all day. In short, I’m here to support an industry that needs it and show the world it’s alive. I love the people, the stories, and helping talent get the recognition it deserves. I’ve been with MNZ for over six years, writing and figuring out how to make music make sense to everyone. I also mess around with music myself—mostly for fun. Honestly, I can’t imagine life without it.
