Hoodaki are a four piece Indie Rock Band hailing from the deep south – Invercargill.
The formed in the 2010’s as three work colleagues who were looking for an excuse to be noisy and drink a few beers.
What emerged was the hidden songwriting ability of guitarist Jago Byatt. His time in the music scene in the UK last century, gave him a perspective on life that comes out in the humorous nature of their lyrics, which incorporate social observation, cockney rhyming slander and pets!
2024 saw Hoodaki tighten ranks, become a four piece and really get into honing their skill set. They’ve supported Matthew Bannister, Lachie Hayes and the Tokanui Chainsaw Massacre.
Mostly Hoodaki plays at at great local events with headlining the Bluff Seafood Festival in 2025 being a recent highlight.
On November 21 2025 Hoodaki released an EP of a new tunes, The Sound of a Cloud. The EP features a few live tracks recorded recently at the legendary threes and Sevens Record Store/Live music Venue,
