Meddles are an alternative rock n’ roll band hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, consisting of Oliver Whiley (lead singer, guitarist), Alex Crook (guitarist, backing singer), Sammy Woolfall (bass), and Simon Roberts (drums). Their sound is driven by gritty guitars, overlaid with melodic hooks, to generate anthemic-style songs- reminiscent of both 90’s and classic rock tunes.

2025 saw Meddles round off a year of gigging around Auckland by jumping into the studio to record their debut EP, set to be released towards the end of 2026. Highlight gigs include headlining multiple shows at Ponsonby Social Club, supporting Christchurch-based indie-rockers Pool House at Whammy Bar, and opening for Dunedin’s art-rock heavyweights Ivy, also at Whammy Bar.

Their debut single Down Every Road (releasing April 10th, 2026) introduces listeners to their explosive and raw sound, glossed with psychedelia. The lyrics infuse naivety and youthful-confidence around the idea of blindly following something. Recorded at Wade River Studios, mixed by Visko Bryers, and mastered by Oliver’s older brother Liam Whiley, the inaugural single poses as a picture containing elements of Meddles’ future songs scheduled to be released this year- capturing their gritty swagger, melodicism, anthemic hooks, heavy drums, and screaming lead guitars.

Fans of Oasis, Wunderhorse and The Brian Jonestown Massacre will enjoy the fiercefully-uplifting wall of sound Meddles bring to the table.
