Poetik is an award-winning Samoan-Kiwi hip-hop artist known for blending traditional 1990’s West Coast flows with sharp, conscious Pasifika storytelling.
He has built a massive grass-roots following across Aotearoa (New Zealand), Samoa, and the broader Pacific Diaspora by directly addressing street violence, systemic racism, family (aiga), and cultural pride.
Born in Henderson, West Auckland, Poetik was raised in Apia, Samoa. The son of revered Samoan musician Fa’asavalu Dave Parker, music was ingrained in him early. After losing his mother at age two, he moved between different homes and schools throughout New Zealand and Samoa. Hip-hop became his primary anchor, heavily influenced by the West Coast rap brought over by Pacific families with ties to California. He began recording his first tracks in a makeshift studio in Samoa before relocating to New Zealand to build his music career independently.
