Steve Wells is best known as the guitarist in platinum-selling, award-winning Aotearoa New Zealand rock band Fur Patrol, but the Paris-based multi-disciplinary artist has been stepping further into the solo spotlight.
In 2007 Steve took a break from music to pursue life as a photographer – famously taking a portrait of Former Libertines and Baby Shambles lead singer Pete Doherty eating hypodermic syringes – for his personal series ‘A Table’.
In 2017, (after buying back his treasured Gibson 335 from a mate in Melbourne) he returned to music as a composer-collaborator for film scores and electro tracks with French producer CLUZ.
2020 Steve released his debut solo EP, the electro-dance Poolside, followed by 2022’s Spacial-electro, cinematic track Makeshift Heart, pop rock love song Steal the Sun and his first solo album Songs For Summer Rain.
2023 saw the release of Lumoy’s EP Maintenant, co-written and fully produced by Steve.
2024, another co-write for the album Sunset Kiss + a fresh Lumoy single Take Me To The Garden (and it’s subsequent Rose Remix)
2025 Steve is back to his roots of dirty guitars, driving bass, drums and vocals, kicking off with rock single Friends, written for his 6 year old daughter, (10 April 2025).
Steve has a ton of solo, and collaborative singles in the works, so keep your ears open.
Steve Wells can be found on all streaming / download platforms.
