On 11 April, five bands from around Waikato will present Before The Wrecking Ball, a special farewell show at Nivara Lounge celebrating the nearly 30 years of live music, community and unforgettable nights shared within its walls. With the venue set to be demolished soon, this event brings together five bands who have all played a part in shaping its legacy.

Organised by Dolphin Drive – known for their gritty, hook-driven blend of rock, punk and grunge – the night is both a celebration and a send-off. Over the years, Dolphin Drive have built a reputation for high-energy performances and anthemic choruses that connect instantly with live audiences, making them a fitting force behind the event.

Headlining the evening will be CRY WOLF, whose powerful stage presence and emotionally charged rock sound have made them a standout act on the local circuit. Joining the lineup are Atlas Dawn, Job Site, Dolphin Drive, and Empress, each bringing their own distinct edge to a bill that reflects the diversity and spirit Nivara Lounge has always championed.

“Some of our best memories happened on that stage,” some of the band members shared. “We’ve played packed rooms, quiet midweek gigs, and everything in between at Nivara. Before it’s gone, we wanted to bring everyone together one last time and make it count.”

Before The Wrecking Ball takes place Saturday, 11 April at Nivara Lounge. Doors open at 6pm, with bands kicking off from 8pm. Fans can expect a full night of loud guitars, chunky riffs and shared memories and a fitting final chapter for a beloved venue.

Following the show, the bands are heading into new recording projects, with more live dates to be announced in the coming months.

Tickets will be $10 at the door.

This is more than a show. It’s the final chapter.
