Kiwi pop-punk outfit blindr are back – sharper, darker, and more self-aware than ever – with their new single Money & Fame.

Self-produced from the ground up, Money & Fame finds blindr at their most introspective. The track dives into the tension between chasing success and holding onto what really matters – that one person you’d give it all up for. It’s equal parts confession and confrontation.  Verses laced with a slick pop/hip-hop influence give way to a soaring, emotionally charged chorus that feels unmistakably blindr.

“This one hits closer to home,” says frontman Bill Caldwell. “It’s about that moment when you realise all the things you think you want – the money, the status, the recognition – don’t mean anything without love. It’s selfish and honest, but that’s what makes it real.”

Recorded and mixed entirely by the band, Money & Fame captures the raw, DIY spirit that’s been driving blindr since day one. “We wanted it to sound like us – unfiltered,” adds guitarist Blake Woodfield. “There’s a vulnerability in producing it ourselves. No polish, just truth.”

To mark the release, blindr will hit the stage this Saturday, 25 October at DougFest 3 in Hamilton, joining a stacked lineup of New Zealand talent. Expect a high-energy set packed with emotion, chaos, and the live debut of Money & Fame.

Alongside the single, blindr has released an official music video for Money & Fame – a visual reflection of the song’s inner conflict between ambition and authenticity. Shot in Auckland by Thiago Alencar and co-directed by the band, the video unfolds in one continuous shot, giving it a stripped-back, intimate feel that mirrors the song’s raw honesty. The minimalist approach lets the emotion take centre stage.  A bold, unfiltered look at the tension between who you are and who you’re told to be.

With each release, blindr keeps pushing their sound forward.  Balancing heavy emotion with pop hooks and punk grit. Money & Fame is a statement: hungry, reflective, and unafraid to look in the mirror.

Money & Fame is out now on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal.
