Hailing from a 60’s British bubblegum ad, Captain Blistermint emerges to shake up the NZ indie/alternative rock scene with its soaring melodies and unified sound.

Spider Web – the follow up single off a forthcoming EP – speaks to the pain of realising that the people we grow close to in our adolescence, aren’t always the people we are meant to embark adulthood with. Despite the upbeat feel reminiscent of if the “Rolling Stones’ Brown Sugar met the Killers in a funky alley”, the lyrics reflect back on the pettiness and raw emotion of the friendships we all experience in our youth – perhaps casting a reminder that growing apart can be a positive change, despite the challenge of letting go.

Captain Blistermint’s most recent iteration stems from diverse international origins, harnessing the symbiotic relationship of sound and emotion. This can be seen taking full flight in the band’s most recent release The Ladder, an uplifting tune that blends elements of 90’s rock, indie, and adult-oriented rock. Crunchy guitar riffs, groovy bass licks, and propulsive drums immerse the listener in a nostalgic soundscape. Soaring vocals fly alongside the instrumentation with an elevating tone. The result is a “sensational exploration of two people in love and the ups and downs of connection, loss, and finding hope together” [Senocular Media].
