Dylan Frater Shares Electro-Pop Track ‘Body Of Glass’ + Official Video

Tāmaki Makaurau-based electro-pop artist Dylan Frater is proud to share his latest release, Body of Glass, accompanied by an official video co-directed with Matt Silcock. The deeply personal track, inspired by a close friend encountering a heavy breakup, is a frank and thoughtful offering driven by dancable, uplifting melodies and elements of EDM.
Speaking of the track, Dylan shares, Body of Glass was written about a friend of mine who was going through a really difficult break-up and was in a lot of pain. I wanted to write a song that captured how this person was feeling. I had never written a full song from someone else’s perspective; I normally write about myself and my own experiences. However, I could relate to the situation, and the song poured out from there.
“When I showed them the song, they said they found it rather emotional and very much appreciated it. I wrote the song while staying with my parents in Hawke’s Bay during the events of Cyclone Gabrielle, which I think added even more emotion to the writing, as it was such a destructive time. Body of Glass was one of the quicker songs to write and only took a couple of weeks to finish. I think that was because I had the time to focus on writing and knew exactly what I wanted to say.”
With a sound that has been likened to a “hug for the soul’, Dylan’s music possesses a nostalgic quality, often drawing inspiration from the seasons of his life. At the very heart of his sound lies the art of storytelling; each song represents a unique musical and lyrical panorama, transporting listeners to various settings and narratives.
In recent years, Dylan has undergone a notable artistic evolution, exploring the realm of indie-pop and EDM. This musical progression is evident in his singles ‘Mexico’, and his latest release ‘Continuum’, which showcase his seamless ability to blend elements of indie-pop with his signature storytelling style.
Currently based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Dylan’s music has travelled the world, with ‘Continuum’ garnering worldwide airplay. He has worked with lauded artists such as Kimbra, with his latest releases finding a place on mainstream radio here in Aotearoa. With a decade of musical experience under his belt, Dylan continues to captivate audiences with his introspective and evocative sound.
Body of Glass is now available on all platforms.
