Estère Releases Groove-Laden Single ‘Corduroy Jeans’

Cameroonian-Kiwi artist, producer, and DJ, Estère follows last month’s release, the enchanting Obsidian and a debut set at this year’s Boomtown, with brand new single Corduroy Jeans.
Corduroy Jeans centres around an elastic bassline which creates an animated groove that would prove impossible not to move to. The playfully self-deprecating record finds Estère (the self-proclaimed ‘thriftshop siren’) comparing herself to a pair of corduroy jeans, waiting to be picked, worn, chosen as she explains: “It’s tongue in cheek but it’s also a bit tragic, like someone who is trying not to appear desperate but inevitably does.”
Estère is a London based multidisciplinary artist of Cameroonian and New Zealand heritage who explores emotion and the world around her via her self-coined genre, ‘electric blue witch-hop’. As a beat-maker, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Estère intentionally crafts rich and immersive worlds with her music, blending electronic production with afro-fusion, RnB, and experimental textures to create a sound that is uniquely her own.
Estère has established herself as a prolific creator, with multiple projects already under her belt as well as collaborations with renowned talents including Jordan Rakei, Oddisee and Deva Mahal. In 2024 following her move to London, Estère placed in the top 10 of Stone Throw Records’ global beatmaking competition and collaborated with Nightmares On Wax, on reimagining his 1999 single ‘Finer’, released on Warp Records.
Estère has developed a performance-fueled electronic live set, previously headlining sold out shows across the UK, France, and New Zealand. In addition to this she has opened for Grace Jones, Erykah Badu, Peaches, and Hiatus Kaiyote, as well as performing at festivals worldwide including Glastonbury, Afropunk Paris, WOMAD, Bushfire, Soni Arts Festival, and Boomtown.
As an extension of her music continues to her pursuit to explore themes of identity and community, in 2025 Estère co-founded a collective called DiaxXpora in 2025, a London-based community and event series celebrating diasporic music and creatives.
With the release of Corduroy Jeans, Estère continues to unravel a new layer of her artistry, signalling what’s to come from the multifaceted musician. Corduroy Jeans finds Estère at her most charming and witty, riffing on the idea of unrequited love whilst creating a timeless and infectious groove.
