Flynn Adamson Releases Infectious New Single ‘Sucks’
Christchurch artist Flynn Adamson today releases his new single Sucks, an infectious, upbeat pop track about missing someone and not knowing quite where you stand.
Flynn wrote the song after someone close to him moved overseas and their relationship was put on pause. Suddenly there was distance, uncertainty and the question of whether to keep holding on or accept that things had changed.
That story might sound like the starting point for a heartbreak ballad, but Sucks is anything but. It’s bright, energetic pop with a big hook, soaring vocals and guitars running through it, turning a difficult situation into something immediate and uplifting.
The track was written, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered entirely by Flynn, who at just 20 has already spent years learning how to make music on his own terms.
He started busking on the streets of Christchurch at seven, using the money he earned to buy instruments and recording gear. Since then, he has played more than 400 shows, performed at Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park and Selwyn Sounds, shared stages with Foley, Will Swinton, Jack Gray and The Butlers, and sold out his own headline show at BIG FAN alongside Rosetta.
He’s also been working behind the scenes, writing and producing for emerging artists including Sophie Maude, Wilka, May-C, Hone and Verity.
For Flynn, Sucks comes from a very real place, but the feeling behind it is one plenty of people will recognise: when someone you want in your life is suddenly somewhere else, and neither of you really knows what happens next.
