Fruju Peak Releases Twin Albums ‘Live AF’ & ‘Live AF Dubs’

Fruju Peak’s Live AF & Live AF Dubs twin-albums are a
documentation of the latest experiments within Jazz and
improvised music, performed/recorded last year at The Audio
Foundation. Each composition weaves a different element,
interpolating timbre, harmony and new textures on Live AF
Dubs that arise through the ‘dubbing’ process by Fern.

Molecule is an AABA composition lead with Iggy Palmero
Epstein’s flute melody with the bass anchored by Orlando
Cooper. Yuri SD is based on fragmentation, a reggae inspired
tune sitting at 86bpm – introducing an ostinato at 3 min mark.
Sad is a rubato composition of Ryan Tomov’s – who leads the
tune with sweeping keyboard lines. Eddy is an improvised
piece with the premise of imitating a swelling of water,
demonstrated to the band from Finn McNeill’s graphic score
adaptations.

Fruju Peak have been regulars performing across the Tamaki
Makaurau scene. Showcased in various opening slots for acts
such as Joe Kaptein, Leonard Charles Group and also Cross
Street Music Festival 2024, Fruju Peak have become
comfortable performing in various environments from the stage
to street corners.

Formed in early 2022, Fruju Peak have been busily creating
and experimenting within Jazz. They draw inspiration from
psychedelic music in its different forms, and they aim to
present a cohesive blend of their own original compositions.
Fruju Peak are simultaneously the question, the answer, and
the process of finding though at times; failing. Come jam!
