Home Entertainment System Release New Single ‘Future’ + Headline Japan Tour
Home Entertainment System, the solo project of Dave Thomson (also of synth-pop outfit Brother Sister), today announced the music video is out today for the new single, Future, dropping today, Thursday, 24 September, ahead of a four-date tour of Japan.
Future is a high-energy, electro-robotica anthem designed to transport listeners straight into an ’80s sci-fi cinema classic. Thomson mixes modern electronic energy with nostalgic textures, blending driving electro basslines, glitchy sampled guitar hooks, and distinct Daft Punk-inspired vocoder vocals. While built for the dancefloor, the track also explores a deeper narrative regarding rapid technological advancements and what the future may hold.
The accompanying music video is a direct cinematic tribute to Back to the Future. Drenched in smoke and neon light, the visual features Thomson alongside an iconic silver DeLorean. Using a hardware synth setup powered by a Sanyo CRT monitor, Thomson attempts to charge the vehicle’s “Time Engine” with music from the future, ending in a high-speed laser-trail exit.
To celebrate the release, New Zealand fans can experience the track live tonight, Thursday, 24 September, at Brothers Juke Joint in Mt Eden, Auckland. Following this hometown showcase, Thomson will head overseas for a four-date tour of Japan, hitting venues across Tokyo, Kobe, and Kyoto.
