Kimbra Wins Big At ARIAs

Congratulations to Kiwi singer/songwriter, Kimbra, who last night took out the BEST FEMALE ARTIST award at the 2011 ARIAs in Sydney, Australia.

Kimbra picked up the award for her single, ‘Cameo Lover’ (taken from her debut album VOWS) beating out competitors Megan Washington and Claire Bowditch.

“Wow thank you so much ARIA. I really did not expect this,” Kimbra said last night.

“It’s only my first album and such an honour to be in the company of such amazing female artists. Thanks to all of you for supporting me.”

New Zealand-born Kimbra last night performed alongside the BEST MALE ARTIST award winner, Gotye, on the SINGLE OF THE YEAR and NZ chart-topper, ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.

The song recently spent eight weeks at number one in New Zealand to become the most successful Australian number one since Savage Garden in 1997.

Kimbra’s album VOWS remains in the NZ top 40 after 12 weeks and – alongside the award-winning ‘Cameo Lover’ – also features current single, ‘Two Way Street’
