Lewis Parke Releases Mysterious New Music Video for ‘Shiver’

Local indie songwriter and live act Lewis Parke is making leaps with his latest release Shiver. The young musician has been making strides in the Christchurch area, organizing numerous multi-band live events and following a sold out headline show this year, this release comes at a perfect time.

Shiver is a slow-burning indie-pop track built around close emotive vocals, guitar textures, and gorgeous production that opens and explodes in the chorus. Written and recorded in Christchurch, New Zealand and is about the universal lust for love and the intensity of connection; sitting somewhere between indie and modern pop. Behind the scenes, the drumming on the song is from none other than Ralph David Hall. Ralph is a veteran musician playing with numerous bands across a multiple decade long career. His most notable work was with the band The Opposition who were signed to Charisma Records. Ralph joined forces with Lewis early last year, originally meeting in a music shop. Since then, the two have been on fire, playing numerous shows, releasing countless songs and building an unforgettable live experience for the fans of the music.

The Shiver music video was a multi-person and multiple month long project. It was filmed in Christchurch, New Zealand and was recorded, directed and edited by rising videographer Cameron Robinson. Cameron has been making a name for himself internationally as a photographer, recently gaining national acclaim winning a gold IRIS award from the National Institute of Photography.

Lewis had this to say about the video “The Shiver music video is a huge success, originally it started out as a simple message on Instagram and now in its final form looks like it was filmed with an entire film crew and all the knobs and whistles, but in reality, we filmed it borrowing gear, being creative, abducting friends, and most of all investing a lot of time into getting the shots right. Myself and Cam are both perfectionists and sometimes we’d spend hours on one tiny clip. It’s so amazing to say we’ve finished the video and I can’t wait to see what our next project will look like. Shiver, in my eyes, the track and the video take inspiration from the abstract, the weird, the sense of anxiety that you’re being watched as you bike around Lyttleton dressed as a monkey (because you are) and just flips it on its head. It’s a video of mystery, lust, and most of all encapsulates the beauty of the song I poured so much of myself into writing. I’m incredibly proud of this project and have such fond memories of the shoots, Cam has grown to become a good friend of mine and we talk regularly.”
