Mangawhai’s SOJØURN Drop Vibrant New Single ‘Losing Sleep’
North East Coast groovers SOJØURN today officially unveil their infectious new song Losing Sleep, the lead single from their upcoming 2-track EP Summer Tape II, which is set to drop on Friday 27 November.
Losing Sleep was recorded completely live at Mount Maunganui’s 11B Studio with legendary producer Tiki Taane at the helm. To celebrate the release, the band will bring their high-energy live performance to the stage for two headline shows in Wellington and Auckland this November.
A sun-drenched summer anthem, Losing Sleep seamlessly blends a bouncing pop-rock groove with Taane’s renowned signature ‘Tiki Dub’ production style, driven by cascading keys and flowing vocals. Capturing the band’s organic, raw synergy, the track is a sonic tribute to the electric, uninhibited essence of a classic Kiwi summer night out.
Says the band: “Working with Tiki Taane completely transformed how we approached this song. Recording live without a click track forced us to lean into each other’s energy in the room, and you can really hear that authentic chemistry play out. It’s a track written for those unforgettable summer nights where everyone comes in hot from all directions just looking for a good vibe. We can’t wait to bring that exact energy to the crowds in Wellington and Auckland.”
Delivering a masterclass in pop sensibility, the song acts as the perfect spearhead for the new EP, and SOJØURN are ready to celebrate their sun-soaked new release by hitting the road to connect with their fans – including some soon-to be announced summer tour dates.
A working-class 5-piece built on pure grassroots hustle, SOJØURN – Isaac Hunter (Vocals/Guitar), James Finlay (Lead Guitar), Tony Baker (Bass), Visko Bryers (Drums), and Jacob O’Brien (Sax) – have been carving out their own lane in Aotearoa’s music scene since forming in late 2018.
