“We used to sing Whakaaria Mai (How Great Thou Art) in my Te Reo class when I was 11 years old and it was my favourite because I found the melody stunningly beautiful. I later realised it was a hymn, which made it even more special to me.”
“When I set up the mic in my bedroom and started recording, my guitar was in this weird tuning that I made up and that I was writing in at the time. I think that allowed How Great Thou Art to come out the way it did. I had never actually sung it like that before, I was just trying to be honest and sincere in that moment.”
