The award-winning, chart-topping singer and songwriter Jeremy Redmore has today revealed a new superpower, Singalongercise.

The world knows Jeremy as the rock ‘n’ roller who first emerged as the frontman for late 2000’s sensations Midnight Youth. Now a legend in his own right, with a multitude of critically acclaimed solo releases to his name, Jeremy is stepping up his mission to spread the joy of singing in children, as a pathway to greater self-esteem and health.
It begins today with the song and video Just Move, which makes way for the October 21 launch of the full Singalongercise project, a collection of songs and music videos tailor-made to combine group singing and synchronised movement.

The songs, including Just Move have been written and produced as if for an adult pop, dance and rock audience. But lyrically they relate to children; thus with the potential to appeal to both parents and kids alike.
“I gave myself a huge challenge when writing Just Move – to musically channel the likes of LCD Soundsystem and Goodshirt, but with lyrics for kids; plus, use a whole bunch of exciting scientific research to guide its structure and ability to be an instant well-being booster,” says Jeremy.
“Energetic, interactive and hook-laden, Just Move (produced by Christian Tjandrawinata) is more than entertainment. “It intentionally facilitates group singing and simple synchronised movement – a combination proven to boost self-esteem, ease stress, and strengthen social bonds,” says Jeremy.
The Just Move experience is completed via a tailor-made video created by award-winning animator Adam Rowland. It stars Mylo – a stop-motion Singalongercise instructor, who guides children through the song’s lyrics and movement, making it easy to join in from the very first watch. No rehearsal required!

“Mylo was hand-crafted by Mexican puppet-maker Eduardo Oropeza Solorio and loves to hop, skip, spin around, stomp their feet and eat peanut butter,” says Jeremy.
Jeremy first tested the waters in creating music for children in 2022, with the highly successful launch of Sing Like A Unicorn, a sell-out children’s picture book, which he accompanied with a song of the same name, and a video, also created by Adam. It saw Jeremy and Adam winning Best Music Video at the 2023 Aotearoa Children’s Music Awards.
Jeremy’s obsession with singing started when he was a teenager as it helped him emotionally navigate the death of his mother. He could not have predicted that he would go on to front Midnight Youth, one of Aotearoa’s most successful rock bands of the late 2000’s, to now live in The Netherlands, where he’s been touring Europe with the global phenomenon that is Synthony.
“Singing has enriched my life in so many unexpected ways and now science is beginning to explain the reasons why: singing is not only a beautiful act of expression, it’s also a catalyst for well-being,” says Jeremy, who adds that singing has helped him deal with the emotional rollercoaster of immigrant life in The Netherlands.
Now Jeremy is sharing his joy for singing with the world. “My aim is for kids, parents and educators to press play, sing and move together and discover just how good it feels when music and movement collide.”
