Ōtepoti’s rising alt-rockers IVY tease their debut album with slow-burning anthem ‘Tall Grass’

There’s no stopping IVY!
The Dunedin rockers have been taking the country by storm with their unique blend of 90’s alt-rock, post-grunge, shoegaze and post-punk – a sound that shines bright on their latest single, Tall Grass out today.

Following the recent release of the single Loon – the band’s ‘love-hate’ letter to Dunedin, Tall Grass also takes its inspiration from their hometown.
“It’s a similar song to Loon, but less about the individuals of Dunedin and more about the aesthetic of the place. It’s inspired by the likes of ‘Skins’, it’s an abstract portrayal of raw, gritty themes set against a familiar, everyday backdrop.”
Tall Grass holds your attention with a steady rhythm, spacious guitars, and vocals that carry a sense of restraint. The frustration under the surface is palpable.
“It’s dark and beautiful all at the same time. The weather is harsh and exposing, which allows you to be creative, but it can have a negative effect. Simply the equilibrium of something beautiful.”
Both Loon and Tall Grass feature on IVY’s upcoming debut album Hush, which is out on Friday September 12.
