Sharon O’Neill Announces New EP

Acclaimed New Zealand born Australasian singer-songwriter Sharon O’Neill has officially announced the pre-sale of her highly anticipated new EP, Cowboy & Butterfly. Available for pre-order (posting on 23rd of November, 2026) ONLY available from Sharon’s official website sharononeill.co.nz.
This poignant 6-track collection marks her first recorded work in decades and serves as a deeply personal tribute to her late partner and long-time musical collaborator, Alan Mansfield.
Co-produced by Sharon O’Neill and Bobbie Lee Stamper, Cowboy & Butterfly is a heartfelt celebration of Mansfield’s legacy, inimitable talent, and brave spirit. The EP features songs co-written by O’Neill and Mansfield alongside solo compositions by the celebrated Kiwi artist, blending new recordings with original work created together.
Reflecting on the EP’s origins, O’Neill shares:
“Cowboy & Butterfly was a project Alan and I had always wanted to do, especially after roaring with laughter when we unearthed the two photos of us as five year olds and deciding how perfect they’d be as an album cover. Sadly, our plans to make it happen had to be shelved as there was so much more to focus on, but now it’s done and I believe he would be happy that it finally became a reality.”
In the moving sleeve notes accompanying the release, O’Neill adds:
“Kia ora everyone, This EP is a labour of dearest love to honour Alan for his love, his inimitable talent which he so generously shared, his unpredictable sense of humour delivered sometimes piano but mostly fortissimo and for being the brave soldier he was.”
O’Neill also expressed deep gratitude to family, friends, and the music community, her “rock’n’roll whānau”, for their support throughout her grief, as well as the medical team at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in Sydney for their dedicated care during Mansfield’s journey.
By offering the physical CD pre-sale exclusively through her website, the iconic New Zealand singer-songwriter connects directly with the fans who have supported her and Alan’s musical journey over the decades.
