SorchaLula releases ‘F*ckwork’, the third single from her upcoming EP

SorchaLula continues her run of new music with F*ckwork, the third single from her forthcoming debut EP.
Designed for clubs, festivals and bass-focused DJ sets, the track also points toward the heavier end of the EP.
Influenced by a deep dive into South American and African rhythms and the ways those rhythmic ideas have fed into contemporary bass music, F*ckwork began as an initial experiment with footwork rhythms. SorchaLula halved the kick pattern and found a slower, heavier groove that became the foundation of the track.
Slinkier and more physical than the singles that have come before it, F*ckwork pairs a solid 808 pulse with layered percussion, spacious production and weathered textures that shift in and out of focus. The result is a halftime bass track made with movement in mind, while retaining the atmospheric detail that runs through SorchaLula’s wider project.
“I realised that syncopated kick rhythm was the part I loved most about the footwork tracks I play, rather than the more typical 4/4 beat. I really liked it at half speed with a fat 808 as the kick, so the tune unfurled itself from there. It started life as footwork, then got f*cked with – hence the name.” – SorchaLula
F*ckwork is the third taste of SorchaLula’s debut EP, set for release in November. After establishing herself a key member of the underground bass community in Aotearoa, her first original music has been long anticipated. Performances at festivals such as Northern Bass, Shipwrecked, AUM and Twisted Frequency have seen her fanbase grow, with the EP set to expose a whole new audience to her unique electronic sound.
With her two initial singles both being named “Best of the Week” by The Listener, and reaching New Music Friday on Spotify, interest is growing for the Aotearoa-based producer and DJ who weaves together intricate percussion, field recordings, and organic instrumentation. Her sound is emotionally charged and physically grounded, exploring the duality of tenderness and power within underground club culture. Joining Loop Electronic in 2026, she introduces her sonic world through precise production and heavy bass weight.
