Tami Neilson ‘You Were Mine’ – Premieres on Billboard today

You Were Mine is the fourth single from award-winning country-rockabilly singer songwriter Tami Neilson, taken from her forthcoming album Chickaboom!, which is set for worldwide release on 14 February 2020 on Outside Music/Neilson Records via Southbound Distribution

Co-written by Tami and her brother Jay Neilson, the song is drawn from emotions and memories following the recent loss of their father.

On writing the song, Tami said: “When you lose someone, it’s such a line in the sand, a marker in time. We talk about everything in terms of ‘before’ and ‘after’ – each family event, each movie that comes out, each album that is recorded… we ask, ‘was dad there for that? Did he see that movie or was it after? He would’ve loved that album…”

“You Were Mine is for anyone who measures time against a deep loss of love that was an intergral part of the fabric that makes up your life,” said Tami.

Following on from the success of the first three singles on the album, Hey Bus Driver, Any Fool with a Heart– which made Rolling Stone Country’s Top Ten Songs to Hear Right Now list, and Ten Tonne Truck, Tami Neilson is back with her cool retro style, femine power and high-spirited wit in a new video directed by her brother Todd Neilson (Valiant Made).

At the time of the release of You Were Mine, Tami decided to hold on promoting the new video as the New Zealand-based performer, like so many people around the world, had been affected by the devastating fires in Australia.

‘While I am so incredibly proud of what an amazing visual clip my brother Todd created, I have decided against releasing it at this time due to the element of fire being a prominent part of the video.

“I am a Canadian / New Zealander who resides in New Zealand where the skies have been hazy, orange and smoke-filled as we grieve for our Australian neighbours fighting these devastating bushfires. I ask that we please support and donate where possible to help the people of this beautiful country,’’ said Tami.

Tami Neilson’s latest single, You Were Mine will premiere on Billboard US and is available on all streaming services. Chickaboom! Will be released through Outside Music/Neilson Records via Southbound Distribution on February 14th 2020.
