Taranaki Songwriter Returns with ‘Demons of Mine’

The songwriter behind Growing Pains, the funky indie pop soul single that passed 200,000 Spotify streams in its first two weeks, is back with Demons of Mine, out today: deep soul meets modern pop, about the tension between accepting and resisting the darker parts of yourself.
Ramon Telfer writes every lyric and melody himself, then uses AI tools to transform his rough home recordings into full-band arrangements. He is open about the process everywhere: songwriting is human; the final vocal performance and instrumentation are AI-rendered.
Demons of Mine is already taking off on TikTok ahead of release. Blood Orange pulled 500,000+ social views across America with 70,000+ Spotify plays, and The Love launched 19 September with a TikTok campaign pulling 350,000+ views a month. All feature on the upcoming album You Are What You Think, written in a few days of ADHD hyperfocus after a year-long depression and becoming a new dad cracked something open. “Songwriting has been one of the best medications I’ve ever taken,” says Telfer.
