WoLF is a solo project (Aaron Hogg) with over 25 years’ experience as a vocalist, guitarist and bassist. Having a lot of tour and show experience, WoLF is an accomplished artist with international acts and festivals under his belt. He’s one of those musicians that has taken us out of the sticky sounds of everyday radio, or Spotify’s top 40’s and placed his own marker down in the industry.
He sounds like a machine that’s used different parts of its own body to create sounds of tinny, synthy distortion; sounds rough but with his timing, addition of keys, bass, drumming and production… It’s awesome! WoLF’s newest track Underachiever is like a solemn 90’s train ride that reminds you of alt-rock bands like Blur or The Verve. However, it’s mixed with deeper, darker almost early Joy Division vocals that have a real quirk to them.
Electro-sludge has been a focus of his in the recent past, which I find such an interesting little adventure. I really enjoyed this artist’s uniqueness, and sure as anything I hope he makes more songs like this!

About the author Gaby Ivanov-Giraldo

If I tried to explain all the reasons I do music, we’d be here all day. Basically, I’m here to support an industry that needs it and show people it’s still very much alive. I’ve been going to live events for as long as I can remember. I love the people in this world, the stories I hear, and helping artists get the recognition they deserve. I’ve been with Muzic NZ for over six years now, writing and figuring out how to make music make sense to more people. I also dabble in music myself for fun, and writing about it has been the best way I can stay connected to it.
