Amber Carly Williams Releases New Single ’21 Roses’

Ōtautahi Indie-Pop artist Amber Carly Williams releases the title track, 21 Roses, off of her upcoming EP. With a great response following on from her first two single’s Kids On The Internet and Life Of The Party, Amber has gained the love of fans around Aotearoa. Her themes of vulnerability and self-discovery create an ability to genuinely connect listener to songwriter, whether you relate to the song or interpret it in your own way.

For the creation of this song, Amber has collaborated with producer Terence O’Connor and was supported by NZ On Air’s Development funding. Terence has formed a beautiful soundscape that perfectly captures what Amber is trying to say in this song, and when the old video tape recording enters subtly in the background of the bridge, you get to really encapsulate the world they have created. The singer/songwriter sits comfortably amongst the likes of Alix Page and Phoebe Bridgers, two artists she truly admires.

21 Roses is a very symbolic song about the relationship Amber once had with her mother. This song is very visual, with the first line being “Cardboard playhouse inside, grab the mattress, get the blankets”. Amber shares a very vulnerable experience of how it can feel to experience the loss of a parent at a young age where it’s hard to even remember what they were like, but you are left with these heart-warming stories. This track invites listeners to empathize with Amber’s journey and cherish the moments had with loved ones.
