Rising Star Hans. Shares Infectious New Single And Video ‘Be Grateful’

Kiwi-Korean rapper, electronic artist and producer Hans. continues to carve out his impact on the local music industry with the release of his latest track Be Grateful – a buoyant dance tune ready for the dancefloor – whether it be in the confines of your own bedroom, or the hip, sweaty floors of the underground club scene.

Says Hans. “Be Grateful is a fun song inspired a lot by Korean house artist Park Hye Jin, as well as Azealia Banks’ 212. I wanted a song people could dance to, and I imagined it for the clubs and nightlife fans after we got out of lockdown.”

Be Grateful is a house and trap-inspired club banger, with an animated bounce and metronome-like tick that contrasts superbly with Hans.’ trademark deadpan delivery. A must-listen for fans of the genres, the bubbly, wavy electro beat creates the perfect atmosphere to break from dreary reality and nonchalantly dance your worries away.

For the video, Hans. lightens things up by revealing his humorous side – a deliberate move away from the more serious and introspective releases of the last couple of years. “I just wanted to make it a really funny one,” says Hans.

“During lockdown I got really into the videos made by Balming Tiger, Lil Cherry and even went back to a lot of Tyler the Creator’s old videos. I wanted to channel a similar energy of being real whacky, yet fun.”

And for the eagle-eyed viewers out there, a few pop culture references and parodies are in the video too. “I don’t want to give too much away, I’d rather let people figure it out for themselves, but we definitely played on a lot of things”, said Hans. “The foot fetish thing especially has been an inside joke between my friend group for years. One of my friends used to sell pictures of their feet online and make some decent money, and that made me wonder at the time if I could sell mine. I never got around to it but yeah, that’s where the feet inspiration came from.”

Taking influence from his Kiwi and Korean roots, Hans. has been honing his musical abilities, cleverly blending the two and creating a sonic palette that is a sweet fusion of house, trap, downtempo, ambient vibes, experimental club, electronic, rap, and hip-hop.
