Jed Parsons teases second album with new single ‘PlayStation and Porn’
With New Zealand in the midst of lockdown fever, Kiwi indie-pop artist Jed Parsons has today released the aptly-titled PlayStation and Porn.

The light-hearted, jangly indie-rock song is the first single from his sophomore album, due out later this year.
To mark the song’s release – and to celebrate New Zealand Music Month – Jed created this low-key bedroom recording of PlayStation and Porn with a DIY video for RNZ. Watch/listen HERE.

Citing Father John Misty, The Beach Boys and Phil Spector as influences, Jed says: “It’s the story of a man whose life can be defined by his addiction to two of the world population’s favourite past times – playing PlayStation and watching questionable material on the internet. It’s really a song about unconditional love in disguise though; exploring how an intimate relationship can fit into a man’s stereotypically ‘neck-bearded’ way of life.”
PlayStation and Porn offers a glimpse into what fans can expect from Jed’s second album, which he hopes will have people laughing more and thinking less. “The themes on the new album range from stupid and shallow observations of the madness in our world, to some deep and introspective moments,” he says.
It follows Jed’s critically-acclaimed debut album Midnight Feast, which earned him a nomination for Auckland Live Best Independent Debut at the 2019 Taite Music Prize.
Jed’s music balances eccentricity and energy with intimacy and musical sensitivity, maintaining a focus on catchy hooks and lyrical prowess.
