Estère releases ‘New Species’ remix EP

Today alt-beatmaker Estère releases her debut remix EP New Species, with lead track from acclaimed producer and soul musician Jordan Rakei. New Species contains the creative imaginings of a variety of producers including alt prog-rock producer Grayson Gilmour, electronic beats producer Paddy Fred and new-wave pop-rock band Encouragement, as well aforementioned Jordan Rakei.

The already released remix of Patchwork Soldier by Grayson Gilmour, received profiling on prolific blog site Afropunk, reached #2 on RDU’s top 10 and was also Base FM’s tune of the week upon it’s release. Paddy Fred’s remix of I Spy made it to #1 on Radio Active and was posted by numerous blogs including Afropunk.

Jordan Rakei’s recent remix of Reptilian Journey is currently receiving radio play throughout New Zealand and is BASE FM’s tune of the week. The remix creates a new species of reptile in that it transforms the sparse scuttling layers of Estère’s original creation, into chunkier synth infused funk alluding to a different type of reptilian creature. Of the collection of tracks off the EP Estère says; ‘it was a really interesting process getting each of these songs remixed, as an analogy- it was like handing over a creature I’d created and it coming back somewhat familiar but as a new and unexpected species, aka New Species – quite fascinating!’
 
All songs were taken from Estère’s debut self-titled album, released in April last year.

New Species is available from all digital stores today (exclusive of Europe -tracks will be released on 02.10.2015).
