Wellington’s rising rock outfit The Splinters return with their explosive new single, Unfuckingbelievable, out today, August 22. Captured at the acclaimed Surgery Studios and brought to life by engineer Lee Prebble, whose credits include some of Aotearoa’s most respected acts like Trinity Roots, The Black Seeds, and L.A.B. The track delivers 3 minutes and 22 seconds of blistering intensity, channeling the band’s raw edge through Prebble’s signature production clarity and depth.
Building on the momentum of their praised Slank EP released earlier this year, The Splinters continue to carve out a distinct presence in Wellington’s vibrant music scene. Their sound is anchored by the unmistakable vocals of Gus Klingender, fresh off a stint with the SGCNZ Young Shakespeare Company in London. His theatrical background fuels the band’s magnetic stage presence and adds an expressive depth that pushes their punk-influenced rock into dramatic new territory.
Backing Klingender is a tight-knit lineup of musicians whose chemistry drives the band’s dynamic sound: Reef Bridges (bass), William Bush (guitar), Fletcher Cooper (guitar), and Anthony Thompson (drums). Together, they form a formidable backbone, delivering razor-sharp precision, unrelenting momentum, and the kind of raw force that feels both immediate and deliberate.
