‘The View from Poets’ Corner’ – First Public Screening Announced

Hamilton-based filmmaker Aaron Christiansen is proud to announce the completion of The View from Poets’ Corner, a short film that brings the words of Māori street poet Bruce Cooper to life through a bold, creative lens. The film will have its first public screening on Saturday 9th August at Nivara Lounge, Hamilton, with koha entry and everyone welcome.
Following the screening, audiences will be treated to a live poetry reading from Bruce Cooper and a post-show performance from one-man band Mike Conlon (One Man, Big Sound).
The View from Poets’ Corner is a raw and inventive short film that blends Bruce Cooper’s powerful spoken word with striking lo-fi visuals. Inspired by the streets and signs of Fairfield’s Poets’ Corner, Bruce shares four reflective poems that capture the spirit, struggles, and resilience of his community. Cardboard sets and handmade props create a theatrical, DIY aesthetic that mirrors the grit and heart of Bruce’s storytelling.
The Film has been made with support from Hamilton City Council, Creative Communities NZ and Creative Waikato
