Emerson Drops 6th Single: ‘Counting Sheep’
Alt-pop rising star Emerson is back with a brand-new track, Counting Sheep, out today (September 5). A dreamy yet energetic release, it blends shimmering synths, Mk.gee-style soundscapes, and one of Emerson’s instantly catchy melodies.

The single continues Emerson’s hot streak of releases. In the last year she’s had four songs hit the Official NZ Music Charts, including Tip of My Tongue (#6), You Really Must Hate Me! (#10), Bored (#16) and her most recent, Show U Off, which reached #13.
Since winning Smokefree Rockquest Solo-Duo 2024, Emerson has gone from school stages to opening for artists like Will Swinton, Borderline, and Frankie Venter. Along the way she’s built a reputation for her raw lyrics, dynamic live sets, and fearless alt-pop energy.
Fans can catch Emerson live this spring as she joins Dani Josie’s Suckerpunch Tour, with shows in Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. She’ll also cap off the year performing at Rhythm & Vines 2025 – her biggest festival slot yet.
