raptAGOG Releases ‘Subducting // Inscribing’
raptAGOG is an Oslo-based New Zealand artist working within sound and curation. Through his sound making practice he explores both ambient and dance-oriented genres, building sonic landscapes through synthesis, field recordings and explorative sound making.
In his debut album Subducting // Inscribing, raptAGOG draws inspiration from imagined scenes of geological movement – tectonic plates shifting, subducting, and pressing against one another. This hidden but perpetual motion beneath us stores potential energy, waiting for the moment of release, when the earth begins to shift and reshape.
The album opens into a rugged, shifting landscape, where sounds roll and echo in gradual motion. This energy builds across the work, unfolding through cycles of tension and release. Earthy and textural sounds ground the work in a shifting and fracturing geology.
