Attention JAFAs: Capricore’s ‘Smile’ Release Party is Coming to Auckland this November

Indie/alt-rockers Capricore are inviting Auckland’s weird and wonderful to celebrate the release of their latest single Smile at Big Fan on November 14th. This all-ages event promises a night drenched in goth glamour and alternative edge, featuring support from the multi-talented Leigh and the whimsical Sincere Sapling.
Following the buzz of their single Don’t Shank Me, Capricore’s Smile drops October 31st, pushing deeper into dreamy, goth-esque territory with theatrical glam-rock flair. On stage, Capricore introduces Smile simply as “a love song,” but this track is far more than that – a lush, intimate ballad full of passion and metaphor. While celebrating their new release, Capricore’s set will also include various classics from their discography such as their satirical Auckland punk anthem J.A.F.A, and crowd favourite sing along Yeah, Nah, Yeah – as well as upcoming material written with their latest formation of the band.
The evening also spotlights Leigh, a Tamaki Makaurau-based multi-instrumentalist, comic artist, and animator, whose critically acclaimed 2025 album Empathy for My Future Self has already been turning heads. Meanwhile, Sincere Sapling will captivate audiences with a performance that weaves together the raw nostalgia of her debut album Anoxic, haunting sonic textures, and a unique exhibition of emo/indie soundscapes.
The release party is also a glam x goth dress-up affair – so channel your inner Bowie or embrace gothic elegance and come ready to dazzle.
Doors open at 8pm on November 14th at Auckland’s Big Fan. Whether you’re goth, glam, indie, or just a fan of Auckland’s vibrant alternative scene, this is a night not to miss.
