Lace Mine Releases Haunting Debut: ‘Wolf’

Lace Mine is the musical project of Nicole Barratt, an Aotearoa-born journalist and creative.
Wolf is the first song she’s shared publicly, having written privately for years. “I wrote Wolf this summer while living with my 99-year-old grandmother, who developed dementia shortly after I moved in.”
Wolf’s accompanying video is as haunting as the track itself. Shot by Lace Mine over six months, it documents her eyes during periods of depression, mirroring the song’s sense of unease. The raw footage has already been viewed more than 6 million times on TikTok.

“Wolf is about sitting with the darkest parts of yourself and looking them in the eye. It names the body as the site of both the intruder and the protector.” – Lace Mine
