Indie Rock Band Music Sucks Release Single ‘Grown Ups’
Whakatū/Nelson-based indie rock band Music Sucks have released their latest single, Grown Ups, marking the beginning of a fresh chapter in their musical journey.
Founded in Christchurch in 2011 as Sam Wilkinson’s songwriting project, Music Sucks has evolved through a rotating cast of musicians. The current lineup, formed at an open mic night in mid-2025, brings renewed energy to the band’s sound.
With two albums already under their belt – Periscope Straws (2012) and Road Cone City (2018) – and the single Wack Job (2020), Grown Ups signals the start of a new wave of material to be released gradually over the coming months.
The track was recorded and mixed by Trevor Montgomery (Young Moon) at The Temple in Nelson, NZ, capturing the band’s raw indie spirit and forward momentum.
