In Session was recorded at Surgery Studios, produced by James Goldsmith and Max Sheehan. The four-track EP captures the council’s playful, eclectic and inherently groovy blend of jazz-informed improvisational flare and house-driven danceability. In Session will be available via Bandcamp, CD, and all non-Spotify streaming services.

Regarding the release, the council’s spokesperson issued the following statement:

“After years of strengthening groovemocracy in their local venues and boardrooms, the council are delighted to have brought their agenda to the studio. With their infectiously danceable policies soon to be available to groove citizens nationwide, it is now anytime and anywhere, that the council will be In Session.”

To celebrate the release, the council’s delegation will embark on a four-meeting tour of Aotearoa to share their legislation and spread groovemocracy around the motu, on the following dates:

Fri 23 January  @ Meow, Te Whanganui-a-Tara / Wellington

Fri 30 January @ Ponsonby Social Club, Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland

Fri 13 February @ Wunderbar, Ōtautahi / Christchurch

Sat 14 February @ Pearl Diver, Ōtepoti / Dunedin

Attendees can expect an evening of nonstop live jazz-house dance music, an agenda packed to the brim with groove, and the boogie of a lifetime. Dancing shoes are mandatory. Support to be announced. Long live groovemocracy.
