Home Entertainment System Debuts with Synthwave Single ‘Holding The Line’

Home Entertainment System launches its debut single, Holding The Line today, bringing a wave of synth-driven nostalgia to digital airwaves everywhere.
The solo project of Dave Thomson (also of synth-pop outfit Brother Sister), Home Entertainment System creates cinematic electro for low-fidelity memories. Holding The Line blends cascading synths, catchy vocoders and robotic emotion into a retro-futurist soundtrack that hovers between synthwave nostalgia and modern electronic energy.
Equal parts dancefloor anthem and VHS daydream, the track evokes faded cassette tapes, neon-lit highways and late-night drives into imagined futures. It’s the sound of a forgotten movie soundtrack rediscovered decades later.
Released alongside the single is a cinematic music video featuring Thomson performing in his retro nostalgia room, surrounded by a collection of VHS tapes, vintage memorabilia and ’80s pop-culture treasures. The visual perfectly complements the project’s love of memory, technology and analogue-era storytelling.
Holding The Line is now available on all major streaming platforms.
To celebrate the release, Home Entertainment System will be performing live at:
United Video, Morrinsville – 26 June
Taupō Collectables Event, Taupō – 27 June
WAA! Club, Nelson – 11 July
