Heavy music, elaborate costumes and theatrical live performances will collide at Big Fan on Saturday 8 August, as Act Up Entertainment presents an all-ages showcase featuring Master Frank Fu, Fork, Earthscraper and In Reverie.

The all-ages event features four heavy bands, a full dress-up party and spot prizes throughout the night, bringing together live music, creativity and community. Guests are encouraged to embrace the evening’s theme by arriving as anything from samurai, fantasy warriors and robots to fairies, bikers or creatures from another dimension. Dressing up is encouraged, but not required, and everyone is invited to become part of the spectacle.

Headlining the event is Master Frank Fu, whose unique “Kung Fu Metal” sound combines Eastern traditional instruments with Western metal, martial-arts-inspired theatrics and bilingual vocals. Featuring members also connected to House of Ousey and Stormforge, the band’s cinematic live performances have become one of the most distinctive experiences in Auckland’s heavy music scene.

Joining them are Fork, the Waipu trio of siblings Kacie and Phoebe Cookson alongside bassist Nerissa Barton. Already boasting Smokefree Rockquest success, Hammerfest appearances and support slots for Push Push, the band continues to earn a reputation for sharp songwriting, fearless performances and energy well beyond their years.

Earthscraper will bring their theatrical blend of progressive metal, metalcore and power metal to the stage, combining chunky riffs, soaring choruses and intricate, time-bending rhythms into a dynamic live show packed with technical musicianship and massive hooks.

Rounding out the lineup is In Reverie, whose powerful performances and huge riffs showcase the next generation of Auckland’s grassroots heavy music scene.

Act Up Entertainment and Big Fan are committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment where everyone can enjoy live music and express themselves freely. Respect for fellow attendees is expected throughout the event, with the Big Fan team available to assist anyone who requires support during the night.

The event is licensed and open to all ages, with alcohol service available only to patrons aged 18 years and over with valid identification.

Early Bird tickets are available for $10 until Thursday 30 July, before increasing to $15 for General Admission. Door sales will be $25 (booking fees may apply).

Tickets are available now through UnderTheRadar.
