Epakist Ignite a New Era with ‘Domehead’

Domehead marks the return of hard-hitting West Auckland alt-rockers Epakist. As the first studio release since their debut EP dropped in late 2024, Domehead ushers in a new era for the band. The track carries echoes of the OG EP, but with a more dialled-in sound that showcases the maturity and progression of Epakist’s unique style.
Musically, Domehead instantly finds its groove from the first note, building tension and intensity throughout. A blistering guitar solo erupts just before the song arrives at its frenzied climax, leaving nothing on the table.
Lyrically, it’s clear and cutting, taking aim at self-serving political greed, the pursuit of power, and the human cost left in its wake. Set against the backdrop of the current geopolitical climate, its themes feel particularly poignant.
Domehead signals a shift in Epakist’s production process, with the band recording at Turn West Studio in Henderson and tracking vocals at Eden Road Recordings. Mixing was completed in Whitianga by award-winning sound engineer Dave Rhodes of Dave Rhodes Productions.
Domehead is available now on all major streaming platforms.
