Fairly Obvious Take Debut Album On The Road This October

After a massive year of live shows alongside artists including Iggy Pop, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Zed, Taupō-based progressive punk rock band Fairly Obvious are taking their debut album It Should Be to the stage this October.
The band will play three shows across Hamilton, Taupō and Auckland, marking the first run of live dates around the album’s release and the beginning of a wider touring push for the four piece.
Fairly Obvious have spent the past year rapidly building their reputation as a live act. In early 2026, the Taupō four piece found themselves sharing stages with Iggy Pop, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Zed on the Summer Concert Tour, alongside appearances with Racing, Powder Chutes and The Boondocks.
Now they’re stepping into their own spotlight.
It Should Be is the band’s debut album and follows their first three singles Picnic Holiday, SpaceBetween and Stuck In The Middle. Rather than settling into one defined sound, the album reflects the band’s willingness to move between progressive punk rock, alternative rock, blues influences, big hooks and plenty of live energy.
It’s an approach the band have embraced from the beginning.
“Our name is Fairly Obvious. Our musical direction is anything but.”
The October shows will be the first opportunity for audiences in Hamilton, Taupō and Auckland to experience the new album live, with the band continuing to build towards further North Island touring, festival opportunities and future Australian dates.
With a growing catalogue, a reputation for high-energy performances and some serious stages already under their belt, Fairly Obvious are entering the next phase of their journey – this time on their own terms and with their own album behind them.
