Pieces of Molly Take No Prisoners on New Rock Anthem ‘Skinwalker’
Gearing up to hit the road in the UK later this year, Christchurch four-piece Pieces of Molly have dropped their new single – the full-throttle, rock ’n’ roll banger, Skinwalker.
The riff-heavy Skinwalker is loud, dirty and relentless – a straight-up, no-frills attack with pounding drums, ripping guitars and a driving bass groove. “It’s hard-hitting, high-energy – built to be played loud,” says the band (Ewen Glasgow vocals/guitar, Doug Stewart bass, Sam Kubiak guitar, and Kurt Fleming drums).
Pieces of Molly add: “The song is about skinwalkers – drawing on the dark unsettling mythology surrounding these mysterious figures. Rather than telling a literal story, it taps into the feeling of being hunted by something you can’t quite see or explain. It’s a dark, heavy rock ’n’ roll take on a creepy piece of folklore.”
Skinwalker follows the primal and aggressive rock track Alligator and the riotous Don’t Take Me To The Disco (You Call Rock N Roll), paving the way for the band’s upcoming album due out later this year.
It also sets the pace for Pieces of Molly’s next few months, which will see them joining hard rockers Asomvel for a seven-date tour of the UK.
Skinwalker was recorded at the LAB with Oliver Hamer. It was mixed by Chris ‘Frenchie’ Smith and Brendon Sanders at the Bubble in Austin TX. Chris Chetland at KOG mastered the track.
