Emma Kate is a confessional and open singer-songwriter who captivates listeners with her raw, heartfelt lyrics. Writing songs for the yearners, the existential dreamers, the hopeless romantics and those who love too deep; Emma Kate’s music is a diary-shaped window into her most personal experiences. Relatable and authentic, she writes songs about everything; from crash-out moments to inevitable heartbreaks. Listeners can guarantee that her straight-to-the-point lyrics will hit them right in the heart – “why’d you go and throw away the best thing that you ever had?” (Invisible Broken Hearts). Beginning her songwriting journey at just 8 years old, Emma Kate blends catchy pop melodies with descriptive storytelling. She is a self taught guitarist, and writes and produces all her own music.
Emma Kate has featured on local New Zealand Radio Stations PlainsFM, RadioOne & Radio Control, with songs Abyss and Chemical. She has done 2 headline shows in Wellington in 2025, and has performed to large crowds often. She has consistently performed at local market ‘Spring Into Tawa’ since 2018, and Kapiti Festival ‘The Pickle-Pot Be-In’. She has plans to do shows in Christchurch in 2025, as she is taking a 6-month artist-development course at SOLE Music Academy. Emma began her journey busking on Cuba St & Lambton Quay, and has continued performing in Wellington at any chance she gets to connect with the community through music.
