Sunday evening, Bach Music NZ had their first concert for 2025.
Rita Paczian led a flawless evening of enchantment beginning with Rodrigo’s “Fantasia para un gentilhomme” and soloist Barkin Setkaya on guitar.
The second half was the NZ premier of Luis Bacalov’s “Misa Tango” with Stephanie Poole on accordian, soprano Felicity Tomkins, baritone Andrew Conley, and chorus.
For this listener, both halves were over too soon and I was left wanting more – from the standing ovation this was reflected in the audience’s response.
