AvonRose Release Sinister New Single ‘Vernon Avenue’

Hailing from Ngāmotu New Plymouth, AvonRose are a three-piece delivering raw, fuzzy, 90’s garage-grunge and alternative rock.
Their new single Vernon Avenue – from their forthcoming second album The Universe Doesn’t Care – arrives in time for Halloween. It draws on a recurring childhood nightmare set in a grandparent’s beautiful old English house. Beneath the nostalgic setting lies something far more unsettling: childhood fears resurfacing through the darker emotions of adult life.
Raw, heavy and slightly sinister, the track layers fuzzy guitars and grungy instrumentation with haunting theremin textures, adding an eerie, otherworldly dimension to its distorted wall of sound.
Three years into carving out their place on the Aotearoa music scene, AvonRose continue to explore the darker corners of human experience through their own brand of garage-grunge and alternative rock – nostalgic in its influences, but far from looking back through rose-tinted glasses.
Ed Yates (guitar, vocals) is originally from Birmingham UK, Clint King (drums, vocals) is from Christchurch, and Rosie Paddick (bass, vocals) is from Hawke’s Bay. They all now live in the same street in New Plymouth, and are preparing to unleash the album The Universe Doesn’t Care, following on from their very well-received 2024 debut album Gruno.
