Bobby Fitz Unveils ‘Stone Walls’ – an EP of Fragments and Foundations
Auckland-based artist Bobby Fitz has released his new EP, Stone Walls, out now via Meow, showcasing a rich blend of intimate songwriting and inventive arrangements. The EP features contributions from key collaborators including producer and mixer Callum Mower (Serebii) and New Zealand director Daniel Fletcher (previous works with Vera Ellen, O & The Mo).
The making of the EP unfolded as a collaborative adventure, moving from sun-drenched jam sessions in Praia de Mira to late-night recordings in Serebii’s West Auckland studio. Along the way, the process leaned into experimentation – layering delicate strings with earthy percussion and embracing a playful, exploratory spirit that runs through every track.
Bobby Fitz shares: “I have a lot of people to thank. Callum (Serebii) for his gorgeous ear and warm soul. Meow who helped deliver the songs. To Mum and Soph who put up with my manic musical menagerie and are always so supportive. To Dad who I know would love these songs. And to everyone for getting behind Bobby Fitzzz. Next up, album.”
Bobby hinted at his unease with certain streaming platforms, encouraging listeners to explore alternatives. He noted that Spotify’s CEO recently invested over €600 million into a war drone company, raising questions about where subscriber money is being directed. Platforms such as Tidal, meanwhile, position themselves as more artist- and listener-conscious alternatives.
All songs on Stone Walls are written by Bobby Fitz, with additional writing contributions on select tracks: Steady Hand (Alex Farrell Davey of Alae & New Vinyl), Lullabies and Head Over Heels (Serebii), and Wonderland (Finn Pattie).
