Mirrored Walls Breathe New Life Into ‘Crawl’
Mirrored Walls have today revived Crawl, paying tribute to the beloved 2000’s hit by NZ music icons Atlas. Nearly two decades after the original first hit the airwaves, the Hawke’s Bay outfit are bringing the anthem back into the spotlight for NZ Music Month 2026.
For the band, Crawl has long been more than just a nostalgic favourite.
“This song holds such a special place in our hearts,” the band says. “Like so many millennial Kiwis, we grew up with it. It’s one of those tracks that just sticks with you – you hear the first few seconds and suddenly you’re right back in your teens.”
The idea to cover the song came from a shared feeling that something was missing from modern playlists.
“We realised we weren’t the only ones who hadn’t heard it in ages,” Mirrored Walls explain. “So we thought, why not bring it back in our own way? Not to replace the original – nothing could – but to honour it.”
Their version blends the band’s signature post‑pop‑punk sound with the emotional punch of the original, creating something both familiar and fresh.
“We’re really stoked with how it’s come out,” they add. “We managed to keep that nostalgic buzz while still letting our own flavour shine through.”
